When it comes to design support, I often turn to Pavel Karpisek, the founder of Karpi Studio and a leading voice in Webflow UX design. This time, I asked him to do something a little different: give the mrktr site a full teardown. And he didn’t hold back.
Top 5 Takeaways from Pavel's Teardown (full video)
- Visual Hierarchy Is Everything
Pavel’s first note was about setting a clear visual hierarchy. Visitors should know exactly where to look first on each page. He recommended adjusting font sizes and contrast, focusing on drawing the eye to key CTAs. This not only improves usability but guides users to act faster. - Building Trust
No matter your size, it's important to have social proof and / or messaging that makes your look legitimate. This can be as simple as having your company email address on the page, or testimonials from users. - Loading Speed & Animation Balance
While animations can add a wow factor, these can impact loading times. Keeping animations subtle and minimal on high-traffic pages to keep loading times fast. It's also important to design for both mobile and desktop especially when it comes to animations. - Clarity in User Flow
Pavel pointed out that certain paths in the user journey were unclear, which could frustrate new visitors. Including having filterable buttons but no CMS connection so if users click no content shows uo. - Consistency in Branding / Page Structure
One of Pavel’s tips was about branding consistency. While my site had cohesive elements, he pointed out a few areas such as link naming conventions that could be improved. Consistency doesn’t just look professional; it builds trust and recognition.
Two Key Learnings
- Attention to Detail Can Make or Break User Experience
Pavel's feedback taught me that even small elements, like button placement or font weight, can have a big impact on usability and brand perception. - Get Expert Eyes on Your Work
It’s easy to overlook things when you’re so close to a project. Having an expert like Pavel review the site exposed areas I wouldn’t have thought to change. If you’re serious about creating a great site experience, getting outside feedback is invaluable.
